The Billings Central Film Festival presents a portfolio of short student film projects created by the students and faculty of the Billings Central Catholic High School’s Film Editing & Design Class, and they will debut their highly anticipated capstone creation of a feature-length film FRAME OF MIND. These student filmmakers are excited to roll out the red carpet for the premiere event, and hope to captivate the audience with their productions.
When a driven student director’s film ambitions keep collapsing into chaos, he partners with a quiet photographer hiding a painful secret—leading them to create a deeply personal story about grief, memory, and the power of storytelling to make something last forever.
FRAME OF MIND follows Justin Alvarez, an ambitious high school filmmaker obsessed with creating a masterpiece before graduation. But as his productions spiral into disasters—ranging from over-the-top action films to bizarre genre experiments—he teams up with Mal, a withdrawn photographer with an artistic eye. As their collaboration deepens, Justin begins to realize that Mal is quietly struggling to cope with grief. Through filmmaking, the two discover that the most powerful stories aren’t invented—they’re lived.
